Valorem Reply is seeking an experienced manager with a passion for leading a User Experience (UX) practice that prioritizes the user experience. The candidate will need to apply leadership and management skills, creativity, and knowledge of user experience design methodologies to conceptualize and deliver coherent and delightful UX designs.
The candidate will be responsible for conceiving a UX/UI vision for our rapidly evolving, multi-platform user experience and creative design service offerings. Candidates will work closely with our Customer Success, Solution Area Leaders, Technical Team Leads, Creative Director, UX Designers, Information Architects, Visual Designers, 3D Artists, and Developers to design and implement innovative user experiences for our clients. From user research to wireframes to detailed visual designs, candidates will be responsible for driving the entire creative process to ensure our employees are delivering quality and innovative designs, and our customers realize the most value from the products we help them conceive and develop.
As part of a team that provides IT consulting, the candidate will have the opportunity to work in multiple industry verticals, project teams and technologies. Primary Responsibilities

  • Mentor and manage a UX practice that produces use cases, personas, business process flows, navigation flows, site maps, sketches, wireframes, mood boards, style guides, visual design compositions, user interface design/functional specifications that capture application, processes, and user interaction points related to the application design and development projects
  • Work directly with client stakeholders, act as the point of escalation, and be an ambassador for the company
  • Manage customer engagements to establish goals: revenue, outcomes, and clear contractual terms
  • Manage resources, billing utilization, cost forecasting, financial and profitability reporting, and budget tracking for the team
  • Develop healthy working relationships with direct reports and across the company, including proactive networking and promotion of UX services
  • Proactively market and sell the UX Studio. Participate in pre-sales activities, consulting engagements, and client training.
  • Together with Valorem Reply management, develop plans and processes that ensure that the UX Studio is profitable.
  • Directly contribute to visual design, usability research, prototype development, and assistance with creative design aspects of the company‚Äôs marketing and sales-ready materials
  • Build a strong team through recruitment, interviews, performance management, and focused retention
  • Create and execute on training plans for the UX practice around emerging UX patterns, best practices, interaction models, and tools as needed to fulfill new client design projects at both the team and individual level
  • Lead efforts to improve project methodologies and internal processes related to user experience design
  • Additional Responsibilities

  • Candidates may also be responsible for managing subcontractor and/or freelance design resources to assist with other facets of our user experience engagements.
  • Prioritize multiple projects effectively and keep ongoing status of team projects
  • Assist in resource planning for the UX team across projects
  • Educate non-UX roles within the company on relevant topics and details regarding skills, services, and expertise
  • Manage design peer reviews, knowledge sharing sessions, and other team activities
  • Operationalize project delivery and management of design assets
  • Requirements

  • 10+ years of professional UX/UI/Design experience
  • 5+ years of experience in a leadership position of a UX team with a focus on growth
  • Consulting experience demonstrating exceptional business acumen and working directly with external clients
  • Demonstrate portfolio of work created by the candidate
  • Ability to confidently explain the rationale behind design decisions based on research and practical experience
  • Concrete examples of driving business impact and value with research insights
  • An excellent communicator and collaborator
  • Experience leading large scale envisioning engagements in partnership with other functional roles and contributing to work estimation
  • Background in Design Thinking, Human-Centered Design, and/or innovation focused teams
  • Previous work with engineering teams and full understanding of SDLC and how UX work integrates into software projects
  • Ability to stay at the right altitude by enabling, managing, and trusting the team but also diving into work as needed
