Valorem is seeking a Senior Consultant with a passion for using project management methodologies and consulting to creatively solve problems in order to deliver business value while having a strong focus on leadership, teamwork, and project success.  An ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of work, risk, scope, resource and budget management with hands on experience in managing complex projects and programs.  As part of a team that provides project-based consulting, you will have the opportunity to work in multiple industry verticals, project teams and technologies. As a direct manager of project and/or program managers, the  Senior Consultant will partner with project leaders to contribute to and lead to daily success of a project.  In addition to all of the day to day project responsibilities, the Senior Consultant will manage project and program managers, guiding their professional development through coaching and mentorship, and contributing to the overall success of the department through defining and implementing consulting and project management practices with the team.      

General Description & Responsibilities

  • Mentor and guide the team members in enhancing their consulting and project management skills  
  • Understand client goals, scope and expectations; articulate to team project purpose
  • Create and execute project schedules, scope, budget, resource, risk management and communication plans
  • Perform all functional roles of an effective Project/Program Manager
  • Act as the point of escalation for Project and Program Managers and other technical delivery roles within project teams
  • Facilitate and coordinate appropriate and effective communication channels within their project team, and across teams through the other managers
  • Promote the organization's project methodology and process within a team
  • Provide direct performance management of team members through one-on-one meetings, regular communication with project teams and formal performance reviews
  • Be responsible for new talent onboarding
  • Participate in pre-sales activities and consulting engagements 
  • Placement Criteria & Requirements

  • Experience (5+ years) technical project management experience; progression and growth
  • Experience performing personnel management, including resource allocation, performance evaluation, training and mentorship
  • Experience (2+ years) in a consulting organization serving the needs of external clients
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills (includes negotiation and conflict resolution)
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Strong collaboration skills, including: Ability and willingness to take the initiative to facilitate teamwork across roles, functional groups and remote offices; Responsive attitude and client first mentality
  • Adept at task switching to handle varying workload, while meeting tight deadlines
