Valorem Reply is seeking a Manager, Modern Application Development with extensive experience building modern applications to lead our development team. The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of modern application development techniques and frameworks, and good experience using the Microsoft technology stack in the cloud.

The candidate should have hands-on experience providing leadership to a growing team within a matrix organization. The candidate will manage a team of Software Engineers through the design, development, and enhancement of several high-profile software applications. The candidate will mentor, motivate, and guide team members in enhancing their technical capabilities and increasing productivity. The candidate will collaborate with Architects, Project Managers, Leads and other team Managers to ensure optimized delivery of software applications and solutions. As a technical leader, the candidate will have a very strong technical background as well as extensive experience leading large and highly technical projects.
 
An ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of professional services, including pre-sales, value proposition, project estimation, and go-to-market strategy. The position will require collaboration across business units, in addition to establishing growth strategy and planning.
 
As part of a team that provides IT consulting, the candidate will have the opportunity to work in multiple industry verticals, project teams and technologies. Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of software engineers who design and develop modern cloud-based solutions for our customers across various platforms, including web, desktop, SaaS and mobile
  • Provide hands-on leadership demonstrating technical expertise in coding, DevOps, and cloud-based software development
  • Guide and oversee the professional development of team members through coaching, code reviews, encouragement of training, and promotion of continuous learning
  • Collaborate with other leadership to identify the technology road map/vision assist in training the team on these technologies
  • Participate in new talent evaluation, acquisition, and on-boarding
  • Take ownership of team performance and work to address issues, unblock team members, and maintain high quality products
  • Maintain overall team morale and high retention
  • Create and ensure adherence to engineering methodologies, processes, standards, and best practices within the company and industry
  • Participate in pre-sales activities (proposals, estimation, and RFP responses), consulting engagements, and delivery management
  • Assist with department and company initiatives related to growing the business
  • Requirements

  • 10+ years in the software industry
  • 5+ years of experience leading technical teams and managing software engineers, including mentorship, professional development, and technical training
  • 3+ years of experience in a consulting company preferred
  • Extensive experience in the Microsoft technology stack
  • Strong understanding and implementation of software design patterns and principles
  • Strong knowledge and experience with software modeling and diagramming
  • Focus on security, compliance, audits, and proper documentation preferred
  • Exceptional business acumen, presence, time management and interpersonal/communication (written & verbal) skills
  • Technical Skills - REQUIRED:

  • Azure cloud experience specific to application development (web, compute, storage, database, identity, cloud administration, etc.) and bringing systems from concept to release/support
  • Advanced knowledge of C#, .Net, Web API, SignalR
  • SPA frameworks like Angular and React; HTML5, CSS
  • CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps preferred)
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL, ETL, and data migration
  • Performance tuning and technical troubleshooting
  • Containers, VMs, and networking
  • Development tools, such as GIT, Visual Studio (Code), Azure DevOps Boards and Repos
